Shantivan is a sacred place as there is museum of Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar’s valuable artifacts and people visit there for votive offering. Present project is a fruit of hard work and devotion of Maha-upasak Vamanraoji Godbole who devoted his life till its last breath for development of Shantivan. Currently Shantivan is runned by Indian Buddhist Council Trust Nagpur.

Now Social Welfare Department of Government of Maharashtra is developing this project as a social need and already sanctioned Rs. 40 crores for its development.

Nagpur improvement trust is the nodal agency for the development. People landing at airport, Railway station and bus stand visit Dikshabhoomi and then Shantivan via Kalmeshwar Road to Chicholi.

Proposed Project is conceptualized as Social Cultural Training Center and Mediation Complex, Public need fulfilment of Dr. Babasaheb’s vision, needed inspiration Dr. Babasaheb himself, needed motivation Dr. Babasaheb missionaries, followers need right guidance, devotees need dhamma training, students need cultivation of right mind.

As conceptualized architecturally project needs New Museum and Memorial, Multipurpose Hall with Art Gallery, Training and Research Centre, Meditation Centre and Uposathgar and Anapansati Center with Necessary Services.

For Architectural features Indian rock-cut architecture and Thai architecture is suggested as Socio Cultural practices at Thailand are most important with respect to Dhamma practice, therefore, project getting new classical architecture with Indian and Thai Architecture Combination.

The site zoning as required is proposed is three parts Public Zone, Semi Public Zone and Private Zone.
